Sophia Meador is a journalist specializing in health care policy and administration, disease prevention and community health. She is a health reporter for The Nation’s Health, where she also hosts, produces and edits The Nation’s Health Podcast, writes weekly news quizzes and manages the publication’s X account, @nationshealth.

Previously, Meador was opinion editor of The Daily Iowan and held mentorship roles at the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She also interned in the strategic communications department at the University of Iowa College of Public Health. She is a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists and the American Public Health Association.

Meador earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa in 2024, double majoring in journalism and mass communication and political science. She is pursuing a Master of Science in health communication for social change at the City University of New York, with an expected graduation in spring 2028.
